The Stellar Devils will have a new man in the ranks when they resume their National League fixtures at Oxford on Wednesday 3rd August. That man is 20 year old Kyran Lyden from Middlesbrough.

Kyran has raced at Armadale as recently as 15th July when he scored 5+1 guesting for Kent. That was a big factor in deciding to join the Devils. "Armadale's a nice little track actually, it's one that you have to think about and use your head. It will have a good home track advantage, I loved the meeting I did there and enjoyed racing there."

Other favourite tracks include Redcar and Belle Vue. Running over his speedway career so far, Kyran said "I started speedway probably around 6 years ago. My dad's been around Redcar since it started so that's how I came to ride. It was only on junior bikes when I started then 2019 was my first year on the 500ccs. Since then I've been trying to get around as many meetings as I can including Amateur meetings.

"Last year was probably the big one for me, I competed in the Under-21 semi-finals, and the Under-19 Final. At the end of the year I thought I was ready for National League, but at the start of this year I didn't get signed up, but I've had some guest bookings and done quite well."

He did actually guest for the Devils at Belle Vue earlier in the year, scoring 3 points He will have friends alongside him in the team, as he explained "Danny Phillips is from where I am, and Elliot Kelly, I'm good mates with him. It will be good to be involved with them in the team."

Looking ahead he added "The equipment I've got has taken me to where I am. Getting the funding isn't the easiest thing but hopefully next year I can improve my equipment and score some big points.

"It's my first experience of National League and I'm going to give it my all!"

Kyran, whose home debut will be on Saturday 6th August, will replace local boy Lewis Millar in the side. Lewis has been struggling recently and wanted to step down to recover his confidence.
