Devils Routed By Bullets

The Stellar Devils were on the receiving end of a rout as league leading Berwick completed the home and away double over their West Lothian rivals on Saturday night.

Berwick currently flying high after victories at Armadale and over Oxford at home last weekend were in devastating form and the result was never in doubt. A little bit of battle at least being shown by the Armadale outfit later in the meeting to keep the score line down at least a smidge.

Devils number 1 Danny Phillips undoubtedly their most impressive rider on the night saying after 'It was difficult to get a setup especially with there already being 15 heats having taken place on the track. My bike was getting me out the start perfectly though and that's always the hard bit, if you can get out the start and hit the right line.

'I didn't get to see much of the racing as I was always doing stuff on the bike but it seems like everyone was putting in lots of effort but we just need to bounce back in the next meeting and then we'll get that win.'

Sadly for Phillips despite him taking 2 heat wins their was little in the way of backup to stop the marauding Bullets.

Heat advantages in each of the first 4 heats meant a 14 point advantage was already in place for the home side and their was no way back for Phillips men.

The Devils can at least point to a few embers of hope from an otherwise difficult evening, Josh Embleton was competitive throughout, Tom Woolley rounded off his night with a win and George Rothery led home number 1 Kyle Bickley for a couple of laps in heat 10 before a lovely move by Bickley took him to the front.

That was as good as it got for Rothery though his night ending painfully as he clattered the fence in heat 14 trying to get into second.

This also brought an end to proceedings as the curfew was reached the result standing though and another maximum 3 points for the Bullets who had impressive performances throughout all of their 7 contributing at least 5 points a piece.

So, the search goes on for the first league points of the season for the Devils with a couple of week break to lick their wounds.
