16 year old Archie Freeman has joined the Armadale Stellar Devils and will replace Sheldon Davies in the lineup for the remaining National Development League matches.

Archie and the other Newcastle Gems riders of course lost their positions when the Newcastle promotion decided recently to pull out of the division.

He said "I think I've ridden at Armadale four times, and although I had a crash there in the British Youth Championship I've learnt from that. I had a few offers from other clubs but this is the one I chose.

"I know the Armadale riders well especially the Millar brothers, we have a good chat and I get on with them. Losing the Gems was disappointing, we didn't have a clue it was going to happen. I liked riding for my home town club but you can't always have everything you want.

"I'm not going to be riding in the Northern Junior League, Danny Smith was injured riding in one of these matches and I'd rather not take the risk, I'll concentrate on the Armadale matches. I'm looking forward to the next match, I've got it marked in my diary."

Archie's debut will be on Friday 2nd July when the Leicester Cubs come to Armadale.
