It has today been confirmed that the launch of the new-era Armadale Stellar Devils has been postponed after the National Development League abandoned plans for a season in 2020.

Although professional levels of British Speedway were cancelled just last week, members of the National Development League continued to pursue plans for a season on the basis of amateur sports being permissible.

After yesterday's announcement by the Scottish Government, it had been expected that the Club would be able to race by September, with enough time available to participate in the league.

However, in the last 24 hours the UK Government announced levels of coronavirus infections have been increasing and lockdown easing has been halted in England, where the majority of prospective NDL speedway teams are located.

NDL bosses met virtually this morning and have been quick to confirm that plans for a league season cannot be sustainable against the increasing risk of localised lockdowns and that it would be unwise to proceed.

Sadly this means the Armadale Stellar Devils have no choice but to postpone plans to relaunch until 2021.

Although league racing will not take place at Armadale Stadium this season at any level, the Devils and Monarchs promotions will continue to look at the possibility of other open or individual events should restrictions allow.
