Up-and-coming local talent Lewis Millar is the second name on Armadale Devils team sheet for the 2020 season.

Lewis is the first Scottish rider to join Scotland's newest speedway team, living just over 10 miles away from Armadale as the crow flies.

Having supported the Monarchs from a young age, Lewis was keen to have a go at becoming a professional speedway rider. He first took to the track at Northside training track at the age of 15, continuing to cut his teeth with Northern Junior League appearances thereafter.

Geography has been Lewis' enemy so far with his northern base restricting his opportunities to secure a National Development League place. That is until now as geography becomes his friend with Armadale's entrance into the League.

The young Scotsman is 20 years old, turning 21 in just over a fortnight. In his time in speedway he has appeared as Monarchs number 8 on occasions as well as securing some guest appearances for short-handed visiting teams to Armadale.

This experience will stand him in good stead as he relishes the season ahead, said Lewis, "I am very excited by the opportunity that National League racing offers me."

Lewis hopes that this will be a big stepping stone on the way to fulfil his childhood ambition, "I aim to develop so that one day I can wear the blue and gold of the main Monarchs team."

Off track, Lewis is in his third year of his apprenticeship with a local plumbing company, spending his spare time maintaining and preparing his bikes for his next speedway appearance. There will be plenty more appearances to come for Lewis as a 2020 Armadale Devil.
