It was another heavy defeat for the Stellar Devils on Sunday this time going down 60-27 at Mildenhall but sadly it was a day where the score line was secondary to a shambles of a meeting that saw at least one faller in more than 2/3rds of the heats on a track that was poorly prepared before the meeting and was watered precariously as the meeting progressed.

This led to a lengthy delay after heat 9 as both camps and the referee Paul Carrington had a long discussion, the decision made to carry on but by this point the only concern was getting everyone home in one piece.

Sadly, this wasn't to be the case as Josh Embleton, Gregor Millar and Lewis Millar could not continue after spills for the Devils while Matt Marson also failed to get beyond his first heat. All the best goes out to all, and updates will follow although initial diagnosis is just knocks for the Devils trio.

This meant the Devils were down to 4 riders only by the end of heat 9 and while Lee Complin, Tom Woolley and Danny Phillips all had moments of glory with at least 1 heat win each there was literally no back up to turn any of these into advantages as the home men ran riot.

Elliot Kelly also had a day to forget returning to his old home track, his day being summed up by an engine failure while leading heat 14 turning a 3-3 into a home 5-0.

For the hosts the individual scorecards will reflect a good day's work each of the 5 that finished the meeting recording at least 8 points and 2 wins or paid wins.

It has to be said though it was a wholly unsatisfactory day with a 3-hour 20 minute plus run time, far far too many incidents and 4 of the 13 riders who started failing to finish.

The Devils will just need to dust themselves down repair man and machine as required and look for better when they return to the track next month.

The Stellar Devils will have to dust themselves and go again as they head for Mildenhall in National League action on Sunday afternoon on the back of a heavy defeat at Leicester.

The Devils won't need to go to hard to go better than they did at Beaumont Park on Saturday night as they went down to a 40-point defeat with only 1 heat win to their name.

Today's task while by no means easier may well see a chance for a better outcome given that this is only Mildenhall's 2nd home match of the season.

The hosts also received the hammer blow that James Shanes' season is over after a grasstrack track on Saturday, we wish Shanes all the best in his recovery. R/R will be in operation with the rest of the Tigers due a ride.

Mildenhall do welcome back Jason Edwards to their ranks after he missed their visit to Belle Vue on Friday and Edwards will look to continue his push towards league number 1 status.

Matt Marson is a recent introduction well known to the Edinburgh/Armadale club after a short sprint with the Monarchs a few years ago.

Sam Bebee, and Jack Kingston complete the body of the team both very impressive at Armadale in their sides big victory earlier in the season while Josh Warren and Luke Muff will look to better the Millar brothers at the bottom end.

For the Devils if there is to be any chance of points then the top 3 of Lee Complin, Tom Woolley and Danny Phillips will all look for better than their 6- and 7-point returns at Leicester.

Elliott Kelly is of course a former league winning Mildenhall rider so he will know the best way round the West Row circuit while more is needed at the bottom end where Josh Embleton and the Millar brothers could only muster 1 point each on Saturday night.

Tapes-up are at 4pm with live updates available on the Devils website
